Catching Up: My Latest Eccentricities

One of our friends, Rich Greenwood, recently did a Facebook post about his aunt's great art. Denise Greenwood's creations just spoke to me and a I've now started my collection. Already setting my sites on the next one. Her work can be found on her website HERE.

Took a trip today with Elle and Nina and was pretty sad about the outrageous prices until I came upon this. It is now hanging above the toilet in my half bath. Not sure that will be the permanent home, but the idea is to create the half bath of medical oddities, so this will fit in great.

See what I mean about the prices????

They did have some fun stuff.

Loved these.

Chalk figurine appearing to pinch her own tit, very interesting.

Changing gears again - we've lived in our house for about 2 1/2 years now and we knew we couldn't have wood fires in the fireplace because it's not tiled for it. We thought we could have gas logs, but the guy at the fireplace store explained the vented ones wouldn't work with the improperly tiled chimney, either. Bummer.

I hated that we'd have this gaping space and be unable to use it.

Then he told us about ventless logs and whah lah, I am very excited.

Am I really complaining that the temps in KC have been around 55 so I'm unable to use these? I will be really sorry about a month from now.

One more random post. My inlaw's were in town for the holiday and I got MJ set up as a nightlight in my mother-in-law's room. Isn't it cool that she loves creepy baby dolls as much as I do?

Love it!!!

Thanks so much to Todd and Trever for opening their home to everyone for the River Market Antique Mall holiday dealer party. In a word, their home was AMAZING.

And Andy ran away with first prize as sharpest dressed in my book . . .

New Stuff at Mission Road

I added some cool stuff to my booth at Mission Road yesterday, including this (heavy) cream metal box.

I liked the color on this plant stand - greenish gray with worn cream.

Cute cookie jar lid.

I dig little ironstone pieces.

Victorian era belt.

Plaster Santa.

Beat up scoop.

Lovely mirror with scalloped edges. There's an inscription on the back dated 1934 when it was given to a couple as a wedding gift.

1920's brass lamp base.

I ran over to River Market to be sure all was fine and snapped a few photos. This great doll was in Gail's booth on the first floor.

These were taken in Greg's booth on the second floor. I love what he's done with the height of his booth. I definitely need a redo that includes lining the walls and hanging things from the ceiling. My space is looking pretty cold.

And a couple fun pics from Brendan's band concert last night. Wow, was it fun!

Morning Glory Fabulousness

Mom and I ventured out today and stumbled upon Morning Glory Antiques in Westport. This shop is in the old Loma Vista Hardware space and I drove by recently and noticed the NYC caliber styling in the front window and had been dying to check it out. I came away with these awesome hands. Don't they look right at home among the gas masks and such?

This place was awesome. Rick and Don have an eye for "jaw-dropping".

This wreath is haunting me. Gonna have to go back for it.

Soccer, anyone? Why YES, thank you.

And of course, the random family post. Here we were the other night, decorating the tree.

A shout out to Jessie Hopeless who is doing an amazing job on Jason's sleeve. She worked on the tree this week.

Okay, back to Rick and Don at Morning Glory - they cater, too, so call them at 913-484-7425 for your next event!!!!
