Matching Stag Beetles

My heavily tattooed husband has wanted to get matching stag beetles for quite some time now.  Our good friend, Jessie Hopeless of Exile Tattoo in KC did the work.  She is amazing.

The Garage Cafe, Birmingham, Alabama

We took a quick trip to Jasper, Alabama for a wedding last weekend and made time to stop at the Garage Cafe in Birmingham.  Jason used to hang out here all the time.  I've been once before and it's no secret why I love the place.  Everywhere you look in the courtyard, there are piles of rusty bits and headless concrete garden statues.  Swoon . . .

 

MTV and a Few More Uncommon Objects

MTV came over today to interview Jason about his work on Avengers vs. X-Men.  The first thing Denise commented on was my new crocheted skull, Amadeus, from Dear Bitsy on Etsy!

Denise and the team talked to Jason all over the house and then they went to Elite Comics and Oklahoma Joe's for more shooting.

I picked up the reflective "LEFT" street sign at Uncommon Objects on South Congress in Austin!  And had 9 boots when I went to Austin and now only have 3 left.  I love doing them and will order up some more forms so I can get started soon.

My Hillbilly Husband

Yes, folks, that's correct, right here in the heart of Prairie Village, Kansas. Eat your heart out, Tony Moore.

Here's a sweet pic of Dash in his soccer get-up just about 30 minutes before he went stomping off the field in tears proclaiming, "I never want to play soccer ever again in my whole life!" A star athelete has got to get his start somehow.

The People on Our Journey

I've talked a lot in previous posts about the sights of Spain, but the thing that will stay with me the most are all of the amazing people we met. Here I am in Barcelona with Diego Garcia Cruz.

This was a typical lunch in Aviles - sitting at a table with people from all over the world. I had a great time talking with Franco Urru from Italy, Mhairi from Scotland (fiance of comic book artist Gary Erskine), Renee Witterstaetter, currently residing in New York, and Ric Meyers of Connecticut.


We made great friends with a bunch of cool people from Malaga in southern Spain. Alberto said he annoys his wife because he cannot take a serious picture.
